Small Business Owner challenges

In the last 5 years I have learned a lot about what it’s like to be a small business owner.

In this blog post I will share with you one of the biggest things I learned and immediate actions you can take now, if you are a solopreneur, to radically improve your business growth.

Here is what I learned: Hustle can actually slow your business growth

You may think it is contradictory to what everyone out there is saying. Hustle harder to get better results, early bird catches the worm, 5 am is when successful people start their day, you have to be omnipresent, 100 calls per day and so on.

I’ve tried this approach and it resulted in burnout multiple times and set me back, creating doubt and resistance.

I also coached clients who were in that hard hustle mode and they were not happy with their progress either.

Hustling reinforces scarcity competition mindset, it does not produce desired effect of satisfaction and fulfillment. It makes you feel insufficient and stuck in the cycle of chasing goals.

But what am i suppose to do then, you may be thinking! If hustling is so ineffective – am I suppose to just lay down and die? What else is there to do if you’re not hustling?

The answer to that lies in the distinction between hustle and aligned action.

You think you have to hustle because you think you have to do all kinds of things to get what you think you want, because you think it will result in some positive feeling.

The key aspect to understand is wanting things. That is what causes hustling, which causes burnout, which slows down your business.

Wanting is generated by Ego/ physical mind. It has assumptions of how things should be and how to make something happen. It wants to control circumstance and keep itself safe. So it creates plans for actions, which are based on faulty thinking.

On the other hand, aligned action is connected to your truth authentic self. It is something that you do for its own sake and you don’t have to wait for the completion of the task, because the action itself produces desired effect of fulfillment and satisfaction.

Just think about it for a minute! How much could you do if the doing was actually extremely satisfying? You wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from doing that thing and amazing results would just be a bonus.

There is no forcing or resistance in aligned action. It flows and is congruent with your unique expression of your being. It benefits you and the world, and its a win-win for everyone.

So then you may ask – if it was such a rewarding activity, how come most people are not doing it and instead are hustling and forcing themselves to do things they don’t like doing?

That is because they have adopted a lot of beliefs from their environment, never questioned them and most of the time don’t even know how to start looking for them. They are afraid to think differently or stop and ask themselves hard questions.

Fear causes hustle, which causes burnout, which causes frustration and poor results.

If you are a small business owner and you’ve tried many things and still don’t have desired growth, revenue, satisfaction and feeling of moving in the right direction – it is time to look at your alignment and uncover hidden beliefs that are running your show.
