About

Autotelic Drive is focused on strengthening human adaptability and sustainable performance during organizational transformation.

The term Autotelic was introduced by Hungarian psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, known for his work on Flow and optimal human performance.

This concept describes intrinsically engaged states where people operate with focus, clarity and adaptability. Autotelic Drive applies these principles to leadership, organizational change and transformation readiness, helping teams sustain coherent execution under complexity and pressure.

I’m Pauline Dougald, founder of Autotelic Drive. A consultancy focused on human adaptability, leadership performance and organizational coherence during periods of transformation.

My background spans both high-pressure operational environments and human performance systems. Early in my career, I worked within motorsports as a mechanic at Bridgestone Racing Academy, a scrutineer for Castrol Canadian Touring Car and FEL Motorsports, and a team support during major racing events including ALMS and the Montreal Grand Prix.

Motorsports taught me something that applies directly to modern organizations:

High-Performance systems do not fail only because of technical issues. They fail when communication fragments, pressure overwhelms decision-making and teams lose coherence under stress.

That understanding became the foundation for Autotelic Drive.

Today, I work at the intersection of OCM, leadership adaptability, systems thinking, performance psychology and transformation readiness.

My work focuses on helping leaders, PMOs, ERP programs and transformation teams navigate the human side of operational change.

This includes communication during uncertainty, resistance to change, transformational fatigue, leadership alignment, decision-making under pressure and cross-functional adaptability.

Autotelic Drive integrates principles from Flow Science, fitness training, self-efficacy research, organizational behaviour and high-performance environments to help organizations strengthen execution during ERP modernization, SaaS implementation and enterprise transformation initiatives.

What differentiates my approach is the ability to bridge two worlds that rarely communicate effectively: the technical realities of operational transformation and the human realities of adaptation under pressure.

Because sustainable transformation is not only a system issue, it is a human systems challenge.
